You will be their persistence engineer, enhancing recoverability, seeking greater reliability, and increasing performance. Beyond the usual challenges, you will be closely involved in our infrastructure coders and automated deployment process. Their goal is to take database TPS to up to the sky, increase reliability to 100%, and resource contention towards zero.

You will work to find and develop strategic solutions to recurring problems and respond to database-related alerts and escalations. You will be responsible for managing the database performance and ensure data entity and schema design follows best practices and standards. The basics are – writing and reviewing stored procedures; reviewing and monitoring database performance.


Help educate developers on the finer points of database development.
Work with development teams to design new areas of the application and refactor old.
Work to design data warehousing sections of the system and refactor old.
Respond to database related alerts and escalations and work to find and develop strategic solutions to recurring problems.
Work with automated deployment to enhance database deployment process.
Work with our internal security organization to ensure database environments comply with data handling requirements.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with the following;

Essential Skills:

They do not have hard ‘years of experience’ requirements but expect you to be a seasoned veteran. Primarily, they are a SQL Server shop (N or N-1) and require experience in this area. What they really value is the capacity to think through problems, judge risks, provide insight, and expand your skillset.


Years of hands on experience building large RDBMS Systems.
Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal.
Deep theoretical database knowledge.
Exceptional practical SQL server knowledge.
Expert level skills in SQL Development – ability to write and troubleshoot Transact SQL Code and design (stored procedures, functions, tables, views, triggers, indexes, constraints).
Expert knowledge in Performance Tuning and optimization, using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
Expert knowledge of indexes, index management and statistics.
Knowledge of the Microsoft development platform.
Experience working with global teams and organizations.

Desirable Skills:

Strong experience in Database Administration in SQL Server 2012+ (2016 preferred).
Strong experience in complex scale out and DR scenarios including transactional replication, database mirroring, SAN Replication, and AlwaysOn setups.
Knowledge of troubleshooting and resolving database integrity issues, blocking and deadlocking issues, replication issues, performance issues, connectivity issues, and security issues.
Ability to detect and troubleshoot SQL Server related I/O, memory, disk space, CPU, and other resource issues.
Know what the query optimizer will do before it does.
